Dirigo Honor Society
The Center for Orientation, Transitions & Leadership is proud to sponsor Dirigo, an honor society for students who have excelled as leaders throughout their college tenure. Leaders join Dirigo during the fall semester of their senior year, and participate in related leadership and professional development programming tied to the Friar Four Foundational Pillars over the course of that semester.
The term dirigo is Latin for “I lead” or “I guide.” This honor will only be bestowed upon students with the strongest leadership background. A silver medal embodying the college logo, the Veritas flame, is awarded to each inductee during the spring semester of their senior year. Inductees are also recognized each May in the Commencement program.
Membership in Dirigo is contingent upon several key qualifications. Candidates must maintain a minimum G.P.A of 3.0, and currently be in (and remain in) good judicial standing at the College. Leaders must also have:
- Proven participation in college-sponsored activities throughout their student career
- Assumed leadership responsibility in one or more student organizations or offices on campus
- Demonstrated a commitment to their leadership development and to the College’s mission, by completing the required series of Dirigo workshops, and an accompanying leadership presentation
